CHERI RABOURN QUILT & FIBER ARTIST LEE’S SUMMIT, MISSOURI
Cheri has been creating art since 1978 and her favorite medium is fiber art quilts. In 1999 she started her quilt design company, Toads in the Garden Designs and has won several awards for her art quilts.
Cheri has continued to be a First Place winner at the Missouri State Fair since 2004. In 2009 her “Temptress and The Dragons” had the honor of winning “1st Place and “Best of Show” in its division. At this same show, her “Dusk In the Missouri Autumn Sky” received “1st Place” and a Special honorary award for its design. This same quilt was also featured in a Missouri quilt book 2009. “Sunset Southwest of The Great Divide” won 1st place plus “Best of Show” in its division at the MO State Fair 2010.
In April, 2006 her quilt “Animation Creation The Artwork of James C. Rider II” was accepted in the American Quilter’s Society-Quilt Show, in Paducah, Kentucky, in addition to the Machine Quilters Showcase “Puttin On The Ritz”, Overland Park, Kansas and Quilting On The Waterfront-Machines In Motion, Duluth, Minnesota.
Cheri has also had the honor of having her quilts accepted for display at the Quilt Guild of Greater K.C. Crown Center Show in Kansas City, Missouri, the Heritage Quilt Festival in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Dallas Quilt Show in Dallas, Texas, and the AQS in Des Moines, IA and Paducah, KY. Her quilt “Ribbon Dance” was accepted in the Hoffman Challenge and was on tour with the Hoffman Challenge throughout the USA in 2006.
Cheri’s quilts are on display with her Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild at the Bingham-Waggoner house in Independence, MO every September. She belongs to two fiber quilt art groups-“Unraveled Fiber Artist” and “Rambling River Art Quilters” who have had their fiber quilt art projects displayed through the USA.
Cheri’s quilts are featured in private collections throughout the USA and in Japan. She has been the featured guest speaker at numerous quilt guilds where she presents her lectures on quilt documentation and designing Art Quilts. She has been a guest speaker on TV Channels 9 & 5 in the Kansas City area for “What’s the Secret” quilts. Cheri is also an educator teaching quilt classes in the Kansas City area.
